Wow. Just….. wow.
A beautiful bike, beautifully photographed. I’m kind of speechless, David. Thanks for a great submission.

Basically your run of the mill Motobecane Super Mirage I bought and modified in 2006. Lost the drop handle bars and installed the following:
. Honjo Fenders
. Jitensha Studio Flat Handlebar
. Brass Bell
. Weinmann Touriste Brake levers w/ cork grips
. Soubitez Generator light
. Brooks Saddle
. Michelin World Tour French made tires.
Your blog is a great idea for one of the nicest bike frame designs made!
David

I always love the look of the Jitensha bar on a mixte. I keep meaning to get one, but getting in touch with those guys is kind of an iffy proposition.
By the way: Never repaint that bike. It is about as pretty as they get!

That’s one stunning bike. Love the attention to detail…and the serene colour.

Lovely Bicycle!
Stunning! Is this the same bike that was posted on the Velo Orage blog some time ago? I had been admiring those photos! This is the mixte version of my husband’s diamond-frame Super Mirage, and I absolutely love the colour scheme. I have ordered those Jitensha Flat bars for Marianne. Did you get a longer stem when you installed the bars, or keep the original?

You really should post the picture of the diamond frame version with the Mixte. That pair is really, really, stunning together.

Lovely Bicycle!
I’ve seen photos of them both on the VO blog; stunning! The diamond frame is the same bicycle my husband has.
Question: Who makes that tiny round rear reflector that’s installed on the fender? I want!

Sorry for the delay on the reply. The stem is a Nitto Technomic. I sanded it down to fit the 22mm French steerer tube.
The little reflector is off the set of pedals I pulled of this very bike when I acquired it. The pedals had 4 of these little reflectors each… So I have 7 left. I have installed a rear light (a vintage battery powered “Varta” light, made in France) since the photos were taken. I’ll send you one if you wish!

I’m restoring a 1984 Motobecane Super Mirage and I’d like to know the make of the rack you have on the back of your bike. Your bike is a real inspiration. Bravo! JM
